My prime time in discovering what is new in the music world is my very short time in the car to and from work as I listen to Triple J. It is there I use the most incredible app I have ever had, Shazam, to find out these songs I fall in love with at first listen.

**If you don’t have Shazam you best get to you Play store or iTunes store and download it! Not only are you able to find out the song that was playing whilst you browse the supermarket or while waiting in a doctors room, you can also see what is trending in ANY city around the whole world!

So here are 5 songs I really love at the moment!

5 Songs I Love Right Now

I finally got myself into gear and went on a little exploring on the world wide web to find some new tunes. I was creating a small playlist for myself to relax to as I was soaking in the bath the other day and I wasn’t satisfied with the tunes I had in my collection, I was ready for something new, but that’s not to say I don’t love my music collection. So I went exploring…

Here is five songs I found and fell in love with at first sound!

6 Song The National Wrote That I Love Dearly

Beautiful songwriting is something I cherish greatly, and I found that in a band called The National. It was 2011 I heard a song of theirs off a TV show, but unfortunately I didn’t go on to find out who sang it. About a year later I discovered them, I can’t remember how, and I fell in love with them. It was a much better feeling when I met my friend Emma, when we started uni together, and she felt the same feelings as I did when I listened to them. It got even better when I met my friend Pat at work and he felt the same way. I love when people I know feel the same way as I do about artists and songwriting, a special connection.

When I started obsessively listening to The National I more and more looked into the lyrics, because it was beautiful poetry and connected with me on a crazy level! Some songs felt so close to home they may as well have been written for me.

Here are 6 songs by The National that I fell in love with…

5 Songs To Re-Listen To

I have been really slack in the last couple of years with my music discovery and most of the new songs I listen to now is stuff from the radio. This morning I decided to go through my iTunes and have a great sing-a-long on the shower as I don’t start work until 3pm.

Here is five FANTASTIC songs I re-listen to all the time…

Up She Goes!

Over the years I have found pleasure in finding artists to relate to and to inspire me with not only writing and playing music, but with life. I have many artists in my collection that I will forever be grateful to have found, even if some of their music careers have been put on hold or hiatus or never really took off as big as some others. I always felt this comfort during the hardest times with these songwriters filling my room with magical sounds and lyrics that meant so much to me. I did, un-shamefully, use to have these lyrics as Myspace statuses and headlines depending on how I felt. I use to work them into the art I did and one time I took all the lyrics that felt the closest to me and wrote them on post-it notes then created a wall art of them in the shape of a heart. I was, and still not, ashamed of that, as cliche as the whole act sounds, because of the amenity they gave me.

I want to talk about one artist that inspires me so much and even seven years on since hearing the first song of heard of hers, February Air, I have been a number one fan. I will admit it even, I fan girl over her. Her name is Lights, an electro-pop, singer-songwriter from Canada who creates magic to the ears.

5 Songs I Love Right Now

For the last couple years I have become really slack when it comes to discovering music. I use to try and find blogs that no one have ever heard of just to find music that no one had heard of or spend hours on Soundcloud discovering everything! But I don’t regret it because if I had not have become slack in that form of discovery I wouldn’t have found an appreciation for pop music. I went through stages in my teenage years where I refused to listen to the radio or any pop music for that matter. I wanted to make myself look like I was that unique music lover that was so dedicated to music that mainstream just wasn’t an option… I was wrong. Especially with the direction of career I want to go in, music supervision and licensing, I have to have the most open of minds because not everything is about MY personal taste in music. I appreciate that a lot as I have found that pop music isn’t so bad at all, it is quite good, the thing that frustrates me the most is radio and their constant need to repeat. I hate that because I will find a song I really enjoy listening to and love then I become bored and begin to hate it. Thanks mainstream radio for your lack of selection, and your hours and HOURS worth of advertising.

Playlists were my favourite things to do in the world and constantly found myself sitting up in bed for hours just writing down songs I love of lists of songs I have discovered. Today I give you 5 Songs I Love Right Now

8 Movie Moments The Music Was Spot On

Since I can remember I have always been fascinated with the soundtracks of movies and TV shows. In my head when I watch movies I take in the song that was chosen for that scene and try and think of something else that could make that moment magical. Music in film isn’t there to just fill in background noise, it has a purpose, and that purpose is to get the audience more engaged with the story and also attach to the film, or scene, like it was their own.

In 2012 I went back to uni and I studied entertainment business management because I made music my life. I went into the coarse with an open mind to what part of the industry I wanted to work in. Within three month of being there it was clear to me that soundtracks were my everything. The way I analysed the film I watched through the music that was played for each scene made it obvious that is my dream. So, I set my eyes on focusing on music supervision, music licensing and even copyright law. It was perfect! Unfortunately I have not yet gotten myself into the industry due to the fact I found myself quite happy with the hospitality job I am currently in and decided to give myself a couple of years more of hospitality before I leave it behind and venture on. Before I decided that I did my research and contacted supervisors in America, one offered me an internship, that I had to turn down due to finances. I also interned at a record label for a few months learning about the licensing of music from the record label side, which I loved, and I also interned for a few months at a small music licensing company who collect for a catalogue of music to license out to advertising companies, films, TV and internet. I wish I was still able to intern there but unfortunately due to conflicting schedules, leaving me with no time ever, I had to leave. But those experiences and researching made me so excited to jump into that side of business. Until I find my way in the industry, I’m giving myself until the end of year for hospitality, I have my enjoyment (and analytical moments) of movies and soundtracks.

Here is a list of MY favourite movie moments the music was spot on. These are based on my emotions and connections to these scenes.
